Tiny Steps to Big Summits

How to pick your next one…

Recently, I watched a woman stand at a trailhead and do that thing we all do.

She looked up.

She did the math.

And you could see her brain go: Absolutely not.

Not because she was weak. Not because she was not outdoorsy. Not because she didn’t belong there.

Because she started to doubt herself.

If you’ve ever done that(you’re not alone), this post is for you.

The moment your goal turns into a giant nope

This is what happens with big goals (hikes, trips, life changes, all of it):

You get excited for five minutes.

Then your brain tries to leap directly from couch to summit.

And suddenly you’re thinking:

  • I’m not ready.
  • I’m not fit enough.
  • I’ll embarrass myself.

So you do the very logical thing.

You decide the goal is the problem.

But it’s not.

The problem is that you’re staring at the summit instead of looking for the next step.

What actually works (and it’s annoyingly simple)

Here’s what we do on real mountains:

We don’t climb the whole thing in one big heroic moment.

We pick a tiny target.

  • 10 steps.
  • That rock.
  • The next switchback.
  • The next intersection.

Then we stop.

Drink water.

Eat a snack.

Question our life choices.

And keep going.

That’s it.

And the reason it works is not that it’s inspirational.

It works because it gives you proof.

Confidence isn’t a personality trait. It’s a stack of receipts.

Confidence isn’t something you either have or you don’t.

It’s something you build.

One tiny step at a time.

Every step is a receipt that says:

  • See? I move forward even when it’s hard.
  • See? I can do uncomfortable things.
  • See? I don’t quit just because my brain is being dramatic.

And eventually, you look up and realize you’re way higher than you ever thought possible.

Your next step

Don’t ask: How do I get to the top?

Ask: What’s the next step I can take in the next 24 hours?

Not the perfect step.

Not the heroic step.

A doable step.

If your big goal is climbing Kilimanjaro or something else EPIC let’s hop on a call to chat.

On a quick call, we’ll:

  • Match you to the Hike Like A Woman trip you’ll actually love
  • Talk through the Am I ready? stuff (fitness, fear, logistics, travel)

Book your call here: https://calendar.app.google/bWcSDG9bPgpesY9fA

And if you’re sitting there thinking, “I’m interested, but I’m not ready, ” perfect.

That’s exactly who the call is for.

You’ve got this,
