Join us on the renowned Machame (Whiskey) Route, a journey that's about more than just reaching the top. It's about connecting with the raw beauty of Kilimanjaro, trekking through diverse landscapes from vibrant rainforests to the otherworldly alpine desert, and finally, standing proud on Uhuru Peak (5895m).

Day 1: Arrival in Tanzania (Moshi)
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you'll be transferred to your hotel in Moshi. You will meet your experienced guide for a comprehensive trek briefing and equipment check. Any necessary gear rentals can be arranged today.

Day 2: Machame Gate to Machame Camp (1790m to 3010m).
A scenic one-hour drive takes us to Machame Gate, where park formalities are completed. We meet our dedicated crew of porters and begin our ascent. The initial trek winds through lush, dense rainforest, with trails that may be wet and muddy.

Day 3: Machame Camp to Shira Camp (3010m to 3845m).
The route continues upward through the forest, leading to a steep ascent onto the Shira Plateau. Enjoy rewarding panoramic views of the mountain and, in the distance, Mt. Meru.
Distance covered: 5.4km / 3.4mi. Approx. time taken: 5 hours.

Day 4: Shira Cave to Barranco Camp (3845m to 3960m).
The landscape transforms as we traverse high moorland, offering a unique trekking experience. We pass beneath the Lava Tower and the Western Breach, reaching Barranco Camp. The day's trek incorporates the "walk high, sleep low" principle for optimal acclimatization.

Day 5: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp (3960m to 3963m).
We begin with a descent into the Great Barranco ravine, followed by a steep climb up the Barranco Wall. We trek past the Heim and Kersten glaciers, heading towards the Karanga valley. We conclude with a steep climb to Karanga Camp. An optional afternoon acclimatization trek to 4200m is available for those feeling strong.

Day 6: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp (3963m to 4640m).
After breakfast, we trek across desolate scree slopes to Barafu Camp. This challenging, steep ascent is made more demanding by the altitude. We rest and prepare for the summit push, with an early dinner and attempt to sleep.

Day 7: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak (5895m) & Millennium Camp (3790m).
We begin the summit climb around midnight, ascending steeply to the summit glaciers. We reach Stella Point (5739m) at sunrise, witnessing breathtaking ice cliffs and views. We continue to Uhuru Peak (5895m), the summit of Kilimanjaro. We descend to Barafu Camp for breakfast, then continue to Millennium Camp for rest.
Distance covered: 13.4km / 8.3mi. Approx. time taken: 12 – 15 hours.

Day 8: Millennium Camp to Mweka Gate (3790m to 1630m).
A gentle trek through the rainforest leads to Mweka Gate. We receive summit certificates and return to your hotel in Moshi. Enjoy a well-deserved hot shower.

Day 9: Departure from Tanzania (Moshi).
Enjoy a free day to relax or explore Moshi town. Depart from Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward journey.
